LED Illuminated Signs for Interior and Exterior Use

LED illuminated signs are used to light lettering, logos and sign faces. Their main advantage is the ability to achieve different lighting effects while adapting the shape, colour and light intensity.

Depending on the construction, LED lighting can illuminate the front face of a sign, create a rear halo effect or illuminate selected cut-out elements of the lettering.

Indoor and outdoor signs differ in construction, material selection, protection of electrical components and installation method. Facade signs require particular consideration of weather exposure, structural stability and maintenance access.

Types of Illuminated Signs We Manufacture

Metaling manufactures a range of illuminated and non-illuminated signs. The appropriate solution is determined by the application, dimensions, desired visual effect and available budget.

3D Illuminated Letters

3D letters are three-dimensional sign elements used to create lettering and logos in a range of shapes and sizes. Depending on the desired effect, they are manufactured with face illumination, rear halo illumination or without lighting.

Suitable combinations of aluminium, acrylic and other materials are used according to the product's construction. Special structures with tensioned translucent fabric can be developed for large formats.

Illuminated Alubond Signs

Alubond signs are made from aluminium composite panels. In illuminated cut-out signs, the lettering or logo is formed by CNC machining the panel, with suitable translucent elements and LED lighting providing illumination.

This technology creates sign faces that fit visually into a facade, entrance portal or another architectural element of the building. The shape, colour, depth and lighting method are adapted to the project.

Light Box Signs – Illuminated Sign Boxes

Light box signs are sign elements with an illuminated face. They can be single-sided or double-sided, in a range of shapes and dimensions.

Depending on the application, they are made with acrylic or other suitable translucent faces. The construction and LED lighting layout are adapted to the required brightness and appearance of the sign face.

Signage Totems and Pylons

Totems and pylons are freestanding sign structures used to identify commercial and industrial premises. They are used where visibility from different directions and greater distances is required.

They can incorporate illuminated lettering, logos, cut-out sign faces or digital displays. Manufacturing includes a suitable supporting structure, cladding, sign elements and a lighting system, according to the project.

Illuminated Projecting and Rooftop Signs

Projecting signs are mounted on supports that extend out from the facade. They are usually double-sided, making the lettering visible from two directions.

Rooftop signs are installed on roofs or other suitable parts of buildings. Their position and exposure to the elements require careful design of the supporting structure, fixings and electrical installations.

LED Neon Signs and Illuminated Panels

LED neon signs use flexible illuminated elements to form lettering, logos and decorative shapes. They are particularly suitable for restaurant interiors, shops and other spaces where signage also serves a decorative purpose.

Special illuminated panels and edge-lit signs can be used for projects that require a very slim sign element.

Sign Design, Manufacturing and Installation

Illuminated sign manufacturing requires coordination between the design, construction, materials and lighting system. We therefore approach each project according to its technical and visual requirements.

During preparation, we analyse the building's characteristics, sign dimensions, installation position, available fixing options and required electrical installation. This information is used to define the appropriate manufacturing technology.

Our production uses metal, aluminium composite panel and acrylic processing technologies, including CNC machining, forming, welding and finishing.

The choice of LED lighting and power supplies depends on the construction and the required lighting effect. We pay particular attention to the layout of the lighting elements, access to the wiring and future maintenance.

Manufacturing is followed by transport and installation, using suitable equipment and procedures for the building. Metaling also provides signage maintenance and servicing.

A Guide to Signs – How to Choose the Right Solution

Choosing the right sign depends on several factors: installation location, dimensions, materials, desired lighting, installation method and available budget.

3D letters are often used for individual lettering and logos, while light box signs allow larger sign faces to be illuminated. Alubond signs are suitable for integrating lettering into sign panels, and totems and pylons for freestanding identification.

It is also important to consider the viewing distance at which the sign needs to be readable, environmental conditions, available space and maintenance access.

Metaling's signage guide provides further explanations of different technologies, lighting methods and selection criteria.

Frequently Asked Questions About Illuminated Signs

What Is the Difference Between Face-Lit and Backlit 3D Letters?

In face-lit letters, light passes through the illuminated front face. In backlit letters, light is directed towards the surface behind the letters to create a halo effect. The choice depends on the desired appearance and installation conditions.

Are Illuminated Signs Made to Measure?

Yes. The dimensions, shape, materials, colours and lighting method are defined according to the artwork, installation location and technical requirements of each project.

What Is Needed to Prepare a Quotation?

To prepare a quotation, it is helpful to provide the lettering or logo, dimensions, quantity, a photograph of the building, the installation location and the desired lighting method. If the manufacturing technology has not yet been selected, Metaling can propose a suitable solution.
