Sign Installation Documentation (Sign Permits and Installation Designs)
Designs for illuminated sign installation permits – Metaling offers complete sign installation design documentation prepared in accordance with the “Rulebook on the Type, Size, Conditions and Procedure for Installing Advertising Structures and Devices in the City of Belgrade” (Official Gazette of the City of Belgrade, nos. 29/2007, 34/2009, 16/2010, 44/2014), the applicable document regulating this field.
A frequent misunderstanding is to confuse a business identification sign with a venue name, although they are different things. Business identification must include the registered business name, operating details, address and owner's name, meaning the information appearing on the company stamp. Hospitality operators generally display these details on the premises' door. Anything beyond this is advertising.
Approval for a sign up to two square metres is issued by the municipality, while signs larger than two square metres require approval from the City Secretariat for Transport. Payment of the advertising fee is mandatory, and the fee does not vary according to sign size.
The municipality issues installation approval based on the submitted documents, of which the project documentation is the most important.
Payment is made to the City Revenue Administration, with the amount depending on the zone where the premises are located. Sign content and type (neon or LED) do not affect the fee.
The sign installation permit is obtained from the municipality where the hospitality premises are located, through the department for communal services, environmental protection and investment project coordination, administrative affairs section.

We provide the sign design in three copies, sealed and accompanied by a certificate and report on the completed technical review.
The sign design includes a technical description, technical drawings, structural calculations and proof of the load-bearing capacity and stability of the support structure, with details of fixing the supports to the building and the advertising device to its supports, and an electrical installation design for illuminating the advertising device.
If the premises are in a protected area or a sign is installed on a protected building, consent from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments is required. Other approvals may also be necessary depending on the building type and location, such as those of the fire protection or aviation authorities.
To begin obtaining approvals and a sign permit, the client must supply:
1. Proof of the legal basis for occupancy (title deed or lease agreement for the premises)
2. An extract from the Business Registers Agency's register of business entities
3. A copy of the latest paid electricity bill
4. Power of attorney for the person representing the client in the permit process

The design fee depends on the sign type and the documentation required. In addition to preparing the design, the price can include submission and completion of documents before the competent institutions.
Simpler sign types cost less, while designs for rooftop signs are substantially more complex and require a larger investment.
