Illuminated sign maintenance and servicing – keeping a sign in working order is a matter of image and legal requirements. Regulations in the Republic of Serbia require owners of advertising signs to ensure a tidy appearance and correct operation. If your signs do not meet the prescribed criteria, you may face substantial fines imposed by the competent authorities.

We also repair and maintain signs made by other manufacturers, even if you are not an existing customer.

We undertake all types of sign repairs where repair is possible. Where damage is too extensive, we offer to manufacture identical replacement elements. Repairing a broken sign, for example following children's play or accidental breakage, is perhaps the most common situation. Replacement can be relatively quick if the damage is minor, while more extensive damage may require an entirely new sign. We can also upgrade existing illuminated signs with LED lighting to help reduce high electricity bills.

Cleaning the Sign

If you intend to clean the sign yourself, always disconnect its power supply first.

Clean the sign using a soft cloth and water with detergent added. Stains can be removed with alcohol. After cleaning, leave the power disconnected for the next 24 hours to allow the sign to dry completely and prevent damage.

Cleaning is recommended every 4–6 months, or more frequently in urban areas.

Treating Corrosion on the Sign

Corrosion may develop on the steel parts of your sign 3 to 5 years after installation. Corrosion can be treated by painting with oil-based paints. Before painting, clean the steel parts with a soft cloth and a solution of water and detergent to remove accumulated dust.

Maintaining Applied Lettering (Vinyl)

Metaling uses high-quality 3M vinyl for applied lettering, with an eight-year manufacturer's warranty. We recommend replacing the vinyl after the warranty expires.

Lighting Maintenance

Opening the sign and replacing the lighting during the warranty period is not permitted, as it voids the warranty. Metaling guarantees the installed lighting for 2 years from the sign's installation date. If you replace the lighting yourself after the warranty has expired, always disconnect the power supply before doing so.

The sign's optimum operating temperature should be between -35 and 85°C. Within this temperature range, the manufacturer guarantees that the LED chip will not be damaged and consequently lose light intensity. During hot summer months, we recommend avoiding switching on a sign exposed to direct sunlight. Damage occurs only if the lighting operates above the permitted temperature.

Opening the sign or making any alterations without METALING's authorisation voids the warranty during the warranty period and ends the manufacturer's responsibility outside the warranty period.
